Nothing... yet

Well the weekend has come and gone and the little one is not here yet. He seems to be doing ok and has been really, really active which is funny and weird since he has zero room to move about and is really distorting my belly. I guess he could be getting into the spirit of the Olympics and practicing tumbling passes like the gymnasts or working on his kicks for swimming (or he's been tripping on some bad acid). I realized what good timing it is that the Olympics are on in the middle of the night since I figure we'll be up in the middle of the night a lot too!

We ended up going to a beer festival in downtown Roanoke, Microfestivus http://microfestivus.squaresociety.org/home.asp?page=Home , and couldn't have asked for a better day. At the very least, it makes a great story to tell the Mongoose too. The weather was very comfortable, the event was well organized, the cost for non-drinkers to attend was reasonable, and the beer selection (so I'm told) was not too shabby either. Now at first thought, going to a beer festival and not sampling the goods doesn't sound like much fun, but I have to say that there are many benefits to having a pregnant lady with you at such an event if you can convince one to go. First, there's the designated driver thing which is pretty apparent, but never underestimate how a crowd will part for a lady with a giant belly. What power! But, the best part is to enjoy the incredulous gaping looks from the other festival-goers - you can almost see the wheels turning as they try and figure out if they are really much drunker than they thought they were. The volunteer taking tickets at the gate actually asked me if I was really pregnant because I looked so round that it didn't look real. He wanted to make sure I wasn't smuggling a pony keg. All in all, a fun day, especially because I got presents for my trouble too.

But Sunday and today, we're just waiting. I'm alternating between trying to walk as much as I can and trying to get as much rest as I can. I keep thinking about how at this time next week, Mongoose will be here!
