Another Mongoose look coming your way...

Well friends, it will be a few more weeks, but we're scheduled for one last look at the Mongoose in captivity. We'll be documenting his position and size and we'll see if his forked tail and horns have fully developed. Everything seems right on track, no gestational diabetes, good size, strong heartbeat and feisty attitude (his, not mine - well mine too, who are we kidding?) and we're up to the every 2 week appointment stage. Mongoose seems to take great pleasure in continuing to kick the doppler when we listen to his heartbeat. It's like "thumpa thumpa thumpa WHAM thumpa thumpa." I'm supposed to be doing kick counts now so I will have no more time to post anything since I will spend the entire time counting, as active as he is.

Mongoose will be headed to Raleigh this weekend for a shindig in his honor. He is very excited to see some good friends and eat lots of treats. Daddy is headed to PA for a guy's weekend and some white water adventures with Uncle Harry. There may be some more kayaking pictures posted, but without the unbiased eye of the official Mongoose blog photographer, you can be sure that they won't be as factually representative as the Ocracoke kayaking pictures.

In other related news over the weekend, we began putting together some of the fun Mongoose goodies that we have including the Pack-and-Play (this is a complete misnomer, but more on that later) and a bouncer thingy. After that ordeal, I was convinced I was too dumb to become a parent and broke down begging the Mongoose to forgive me being a terrible mother. But then the most amazing thing happened. I was inexplicably drawn to the kitchen to cook something. And while usually that means microwaving a burrito, I baked a cake. OK, so it was more of a cobbler thing, but the title of the recipe said cake, so we're going with that because it sounds more impressive. Now said cake actually came out great. And nothing got broken (me included), burned and no one has been violently ill and it even tasted good. The Mongoose might not spend years in therapy after all! While he might not be able to bounce in his bouncy thing, I'm sure he'll turn out just fine on a diet of pureed cobbler-cake.

let's just assume he'll be taking after his Auntie Hose and will combine these two events becoming a fabulous cake jumper!!! HOORAH!
